1. About this policy

Australian Buhurt Supply (ABN pending registration) operates australianbuhurt.com.au. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. It applies to everyone who uses the site, whether or not you buy something.

2. What we collect

• Your name, email address, and a phone number if you choose to give one for delivery updates
• Delivery and billing addresses
• Order history, including what you bought and the status of each order
• Account details if you create an account, and your saved preferences
• Messages you send us, such as support enquiries, reviews, and feedback
• Technical and usage data collected by analytics, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the site

We do not collect or store your full card number. Card details are handled directly by Stripe, our payment processor.

3. How we use it

• Processing your order, arranging delivery, and sending tracking details
• Handling returns, refunds, and warranty or consumer guarantee claims
• Answering your questions and providing customer support
• Detecting and preventing fraud, and keeping the site secure
• Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it
• Sending marketing emails where you have opted in, which you can stop anytime
• Meeting our legal and tax obligations

4. Payments

Card payments are processed securely by Stripe. Your card details are sent straight to Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy terms and its global payment security standards. We receive only the outcome, such as whether the payment succeeded and the last few digits of the card.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the providers who help us run the store, and only as much as they need:

• Our fulfilment partners and their delivery carriers, so your order can be picked, packed, and delivered
• Stripe, to process payments and refunds
• Supabase, the hosted infrastructure where our order and account data is kept
• Google Analytics, for the usage data described above
• Our email provider, so we can send order updates and any newsletter you signed up for
• Government agencies, regulators, or others where the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect our rights or someone's safety

Some of these providers store or process data overseas. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart and session working, and we use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve the shop, not to identify you personally. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site such as the cart and checkout may not work properly if you do.

7. Storage, security, and how long we keep it

Order and account data is stored in our database with Supabase, our hosted infrastructure provider, and access is limited to the people who need it to run the store. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No system or transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep order records for as long as we need them for warranty, accounting, and tax purposes, then delete or de-identify them.

8. Access, correction, and deletion

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@australianbuhurt.com.au and we will respond within the timeframes set by the Privacy Act. We may need to verify who you are first. Some records, such as tax and transaction records, must be kept for a set period even after a deletion request, and we will tell you if that applies.

9. Marketing and opting out

We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every one of them has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be taken off the list. Opting out of marketing does not stop the transactional emails you need, such as order confirmations and tracking.

10. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email us and we will investigate and come back to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

11. Changes to this policy
